Costume 2006 UPDATE
Costume Symposium 2006 – Academic Research Papers
promoting research in costume and performance - The Symposium 2006 was hosted by BA (Hons) Costume for the Screen & Stage at the Arts Institute at Bournemouth, promoting research in costume and performance; it brought together industry professionals from across the UK and America.
The symposium presented a unique opportunity to share knowledge and experience with leading practitioners who are shaping the future for costume design. This inspired innovative and exploratory discussion into the design forum by individuals/professionals who have all made a major contribution to the industry.
The event enjoyed two keynote speeches. Dr. Deborah Landis, costume designer and author and current president of the Costume Designers Guild, Hollywood, talked about her career and extensive experience within the industry. Deborah designed costumes for the films Blues Brothers and Indiana Jones and wrote the first doctoral thesis in the field of costume design.
Linda Mattock, BAFTA award winning costume designer for the television series, Poirot, talked about her career, her contribution to industry and her commitment to graduate training and education.
